Selling on Consignment

In October last year, I started a closet re-org. After the re-org I had quite a few pieces of clothing and accessories, which I wanted to consign. I just called the store I consigned them with so I thought I give an update.

All the purses, I think there were 4, have sold, and none of the clothes. I got $32 in total. Considering the store takes 60% that means the bags sold for average of $20 each. I know. 60% cut sounds crazy. But honestly, I've tried selling one of those purses on my own for quite a few months before that. The best offer was $5! And I'd have to go through the hassle of meeting the girl and hand over the purse.

All in all, I'm satisfied. The items found new homes, there is less garbage in the landfills, and I did get a little money back.

During the holidays, I helped my sister go through her closet. I recommended the "Nothing to Wear? A Five-Step Cure for the Common Closet" to her. She had a huge closet, but it was pretty cluttered. There were things in there from when 6 years ago! We found items with tags still on, buried in the clutter and completely forgotten.

We ended up with 3 garbage bag full of stuff. I've picked out about 1 bagful that we can possibly consign, and the other 2 we donated. She super busy, so she asked me consign for her. Most of the stuff is clothes, but good brands and in good condition (if not brand new), we'll see what happens.

FB,
I know what you mean. I think I still have too much accessories. That'll be next to be reorged.
