At Fabulous Financials there is a link to this article. It’s about people who ‘eat for free’ but finding food in dumpsters of coffee shops, grocery stores etc. While we think it is kind of gross and it takes a special kind of person. One message that we can take away is how wasteful our society is. It is a good read.
At the café where I work, we regularly throw out food that can’t be kept over night. Once someone over ordered for the day and I counted over 100 muffins into the trash. It was so hard for me. The shelter we regularly go to didn’t take them (even they are choosy about the type of food they take). And those who worked there could only take so many to give to people they know.
