Selling the old Phone

As you recall I broke the screen to my iPhone 4s awhile back and got a Nexus instead.  I've been docking my iPhone to my speakers to play music for baby.  I figured I can't sell it because it's damaged and two generations old.

This morning I at 3am-ish when I couldn't fall back asleep I suddenly thought I should see if I can do something with it (Donate?  Recycle?).  Here is what I found for options.
  1. try stores like Apple or Best Buy and see how much they will give you for trade in value
  2. try selling phone to places like Cash Converters for cash
  3. try sites that will give you a quote online for your phone, and send you shipping envelope for shipping in your phone, and pay you once they have confirmed the receipt and evaluated the phone
  4. try selling it on Craigslist or Kijiji
Considering the condition of my phone, I don't think Options 1 & 2 would take it.  I got a couple quotes for option 3, but the quotes were low and not guaranteed.  So I went with option 4, and listed it on Kijiji for $40.  I got 20 responses in one morning!  Obviously I listed it too low.  I considered deleting the ad and re-listing for higher.  But I decided on a quick and easy.  I sold it to someone on the condition that they'd pick up at the mall right buy where I live right after I get off from work.  He was very accomodating since he was getting the phone so cheap.

So there you go.  Don't let electronics sit there doing nothing.  Try to sell it (your garbage can be of value to someone).  If you can't sell it, at least recycle it.

Free Cirque shows

I wrote about this awhile back.  Beau and I played this game on myVegas for free comps in Vegas.  I wasn’t sure it if really worked.  But now I can confirm for you that it works.  In the last few months we collected enough points for two Cirque shows.  We watched Love and Zumanity.  The redemption process was quite simple, and the seats were great.  Pretty good return for a free game.  Our show tickets totaled about $450.

Joined Swagbucks

After reading about other bloggers joining swagbucks, I finally signed up. So far so good. I have won 20 swagbucks already in a short time. 45 swagucks is how much I need to for a $5 Amazon.ca (or Amazon.com) certificate which I think is your best bang for the buck but there are plenty of other prizes to check out.

Since buying the condo I have to really think about my discretionary spending. This is good because it's extras I can either use to save or to treat myself.

If you are interested consider using my referral below or on the sidebar.

Coming and going

I’m going to add a new survey site to the sidebar.

As far as I know this survey site is good for US and Canada. You do surveys for BUX. Then you can either trade these BUXs on points.com or donate them. You can trade on points.com for things like aeroplan points or amazon.com certificates.

It’s one of the better survey sites I’ve tried. I started not too long ago and I’ve claimed a $10 Amazon.com gift certificate already.

I’ve decided to take off the link to Sendmoreinfo.com. Because it is ridiculously slow in accumulation. I joined over 6 months ago and so far I have 17 cents. Maybe I’m just not doing the right thing. But I’ve decided if I didn’t figure it out, I won’t post the link on my sidebar. I want links on sidebar to be links that I have tried, liked, and got paid out from.

The Clixsense cheque came in the mail. I’m pleasantly surprised because lots of these things say it takes 4 – 6 weeks for the cheque to come. Yay. Oh and I found 5 cents on the way back from depositing the cheque. Anyhow, I’m going to throw $6.55 into the Laptop fund. 63.13% baby! I’m going to get that laptop next week.

Clixsense

Like most of my money online things, I don’t like to post about them until I’m sure it actually does make money.

I started Clixsense in January, every morning I visit and click on the links and the balance increase a little bit. Finally, I’ve reached the minimum payout of $10. Promising.

Today, July 1, I noticed that I got paid out. For $8. I’m thinking they probably charge a cheque processing fee? Anyway, I can set the payout limit higher so the processing fee is more worth while but I wanted to see if the money comes first. We’ll see.

Sometimes, you need more than one

I started this blog to have an outlet for my thoughts. It’s what I like about blogging. It’s also great getting feedback, comments, more information or shared experiences.

But sometimes I need more than this. Awhile back, I went through a period where I was too scattered in my thoughts to write anything at all. At least Sponsored Post opportunities gave me some direction – write x words on y topic. Or on days when I feel like no one is reading, even looking at a penny I get from Google Adsense cheers me up. This is not a post to justify anything. Just something that occurred to me.

My original reason to start this blog is still there…most of the time. But I think having more than one motivator to keep it going is probably why it lasted 7 months so far (about 6 months and 20 days longer than my attempts to keep a journal). Because on days when all else fails, I can say ‘hey, it’s not all for nothing. Hang in there. At least you can make a few dollars from it.’

Pigsback closed

I went on for my regular look today on Pigsback and found the website closed. It turns out they were only doing this for a 6 months trial.

Anyway for anyone with more than 100 points, you can request a Lucky Dip reward until May 23rd. It sucks. Because I was about to order a Tims Card, when the Reward request because unavailable. Sad.

Order your Lucky Dip reward today.

Pigsback

I just got my $25 Jacob card from Pigsback.com. I’m really surprised at how quick this was. I've been doing MyPoints way longer and still haven't gotten to the minimum for a gift certificate yet. In case you don’t know pigsback. You get points for buying things through their site, points for checking out featured deals, and points for quizzes. Right now I get about 11 points (or $0.11) a day. 1 point for daily visit, and 10 for taking two quizzes happening this months. Then 5 for featured offers that comes up once in a while.

Check it out Canadian link or US link.

If you e-mail me browneyedgirlblog [[at]] gmail [[dot] com for referral I get $5. But you get $1 for signing up either way. Minimum gift certificate cash out is about $10. Lots of great choices like American Eagle, Jacob, Zara, Starbucks, Tim Hortons etc.
