Another reason to buy on sale

My friend Jen gets a staff discount at work, something like cost + 5%. Today I went shopping with her and found out certain items are cheaper on sale than the staff discount. Stores sell some common items at a loss to attract customers into their stores. They call these items loss leaders.

So shop a store’s featured sale items and you will get a better price than the owners/staff. Here are two items that are definitely cheaper on sale:

Toothpaste: $0.49 on sale $0.89 staff discount
Store brand quilted cotton cosmetic pads: $0.99 on sale $1.37 staff discount
